Bibliotheca Alexandrina since its start has been always an icon not only for the legendary ancient Library of Alexandria but also for its revolutionary vision since its reopening in 2002.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina was born big, it started with a vision, services, and technologies that were years ahead of any similar libraries/institutions in the MENA and African Regions.

Being a window on the world and the world window on Egypt, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has been always connected to the world and updated with the latest trends in the Library and Information Field. It is considered a lighthouse leading other institutions in their development paths and helping them cope with the changes and advancements in the field. The sustainability of the BA high value is a result of restless work and continuous assessment to its services, activities and impact on the community it serves.

With the vast and quick change in community needs based on technological, economical, and social reasons, the BA sees a real need to gather stakeholders and bright minds in the Library and Information Field to discuss new opportunities and updated vision of an effective role of Libraries and Information Institutions in the development of its people and communities.
